Characteristic home built in Rotterdam in the 1930s.
We wanted to do something to accentuate the spacious and open layout of the house. We reconnected the various living spaces by breaking down the walls between them. This, together with the kitchen, is meant to reflect a sense of unity – hence the merging of the worktop and the dining table. In addition, the bespoke deep lounge sofa and footstool lend a sense of luxury to the living room. The black wood is used throughout the interior to form an elegant whole.
Colours and materials
We intentionally used dark colours and materials with a masculine character, including elements such as black millwork, grey walls and windows with external blinds. The golden accents provided by accessories were implemented to soften the overall impression.
“The dark tones create an atmosphere of snugness and security, together with a sense of privacy”
